背景信息 Host cell factor 1 (HCFC1), also known as C1 factor or VCAF, is a collective name referring to a family of polypeptides derived from a 300 kDa transcriptional coactivator protein. The full length protein contains 5 kelch repeats, and is cleaved into at least twelve different functional polypeptides of varying molecular weights. These polypeptides have been implicated in mRNA processing, transcriptional coactivation, and cell-cycle progression. The full length HCFC1 is abundantly expressed in the liver, pituitary gland, skeletal muscle, eye, and brain. It is regulated by post-translational modifications, including O-glycosylation and ubiquitination. HCFC1 is processed by HCFC1R1, which results in the cytoplasmic localization of HCFC1.
