    背景信息 The pannexins (Panx), mammalian homologs of invertebrate innexins, belong to the superfamily of gap junction proteins.. Three isoforms of pannexins, Panx1, 2, and 3, have been reported that exhibit high similarity in their amino acid sequence. Panx1 is ubiquitously expressed, however, Panx2 expression is restricted to the central nervous system, and Panx3 is predominantly found in skin, osteoblasts, and specialized cartilage. Panx2 is differentially expressed in multi-potent neuronal progenitor cells and in mature neurons. Panx2 could be present in either S-palmitoylated or non-palmitoylated form. Type I and IIa stem-like neuronal progenitor cells are shown to express an S-palmitoylated version of Panx2 that localizes to Golgi and endoplasmic reticulum membranes. The non-palmitoylated form is expressed mainly in adult hippocampus following granule neuron maturation.
