背景信息	Transforming growth factor-beta-induced protein ig-h3 (TGFBI), or Beta ig-h3, or Kerato-epithelin, or RGD-containing collagen-associated protein (RGD-CAP) and encoded by the gene named TGFBI/BIGH3, is a secreted protein expressed by corneal and other epithelium that binds type I, II, and IV collagens. Through the binding, TGFBI plays an important role in cell-collagen signaling interactions, bone formation and development, as well as, cell migration and growth. TGFBI when bound appears to inhibit cell migration and growth. TGFBI is often down-regulated in variety of cancer cell lines and tumor tissues, and thus is thought to play a tumor suppressive role in at least some cancers, and its expression is being studied as a potential biomarker for treatment success. TGFBI also plays a role in a wide range of physiological and pathological conditions including apoptosis, angiogenesis, diabetic renal failures, and corneal dystrophies. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-TGFBI rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blot in mouse eye extracts and in paraffin embedded immunohistochemistry on human liver cancer tissue sections.
