背景信息 Sarcolipin (SLN) is a multidomain protein containing lumenal, cytoplasmic, and transmembrane domains. It is found in the membrane of the sarcoplasmic/endoplasmic reticulum of cardiac cells, and is involved in maintaining calcium homestasis underlying muscle contractility in the heart. Sarcoplipin achieves these effects through its regulation of the sarco(endo)plasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPase (SERCA2a), a calcium transport protein that actively pumps calcium from the cytoplasm into the sarcoplasmic reticulum, resulting in relaxation of the heart muscles.
