背景信息	Fatty acid 2-hydroxylase (FA2H) is a member of the sterol desaturase family and is required for alpha-hydroxylation of free fatty acids and the formation of alpha-hydroxylated sphingolipids. FA2H is highly expressed in the brain and colon with lower levels found in testis, prostate, pancreas and kidney. Mutations in FA2H have been associated with Spastic paraplegia which is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by a slow, gradual, progressive weakness and spasticity of the lower limbs.
