背景信息	Thrombomodulin (TM) or (THBD) or Fetomodulin is a specific endothelial cell receptor that forms a 1:1 stoichiometric complex with thrombin. This complex is responsible for the conversion of protein C to the activated protein C (protein Ca). Once evolved, protein Ca scissions the activated cofactors of the coagulation mechanism, factor Va and factor VIIIa, and thereby reduces the amount of thrombin generated. THBD is a membrane bound protein expressed in endothelial cells. In addition to binding thrombin, THBD regulates C3b inactivation by factor I. THBD also is expressed on a minority of dendritic cells and was given the name BDCA-3 antigen in earlier dendritic cell marker studies. Mutations in THBD is associated with Thrombophilia. Anti-THBD rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blot on human heart tissue and in paraffin embedded immunohistochemistry on human heart tissue sections.
