背景信息 Golgi resident protein GCP60, or GOLPH1 is a Golgi protein critically involved in the maintenance of the Golgi structure. GOLPH1 was initially discovered through its interaction with another critical Golgi protein, giantin, also known as GOLGB1. GOLPH1 protein is widely expressed in all tissues with especially abundant expression in testis and ovary. GOLPH1 associates with giantin via its cytoplasmic C-terminal domain, and thus GOLPH1 is a peripheral Golgi membrane protein. More recently, GOLPH1 has been renamed acyl-coenzyme A binding domain containing 3 (ACBD3) and appears to be a key player in the emerging field of Golgi body-mediated signaling. GOLPH1/ACBD3 plays a central role in several cellular signaling cascades after its release from the Golgi apparatus. GOLPH1/ACBD3 is involved in cAMP-dependent steroidogenesis, apoptosis, iron homeostasis, and determination of neural progenitor cell fate and differentiation.
