背景信息	Human IgG1 or Ig gamma-1 chain C region is the product of the IGHG1 human immunoglobulin gene and human IgG1 is the most common IgG protein found in human plasma and human IgG exhibits the highest synthetic rate and longest biological half-life of any immunoglobulin in the serum. Human IgG1 along with the other IgG subclasses (IgG2, 3, & 4) can pass from the mother to the fetus through the placenta. The transfer of IgG antibodies from mother to the fetus appears to be mediated by an active transport mechanism that involves Fc receptors at the syncytiotrophoblastmembrane that bind the IgG molecules. Human IgG1 has the highest binding affinity for the transporters. Complement activation is possibly the most important biological function of IgG. Activation of the complement cascade by the classical pathway is initiated by binding of C1 to sites on the Fc portion of human IgG. Another vital function of human IgG is its ability to bind to cell surface Fc receptors. Once it is fixed to the surface of certain cell types, the IgG antibody can complex antigen and facilitate clearance of antigens or immune-complexes by phagocytosis. Human IgG1 as well as the other IgG subclasses also bind other proteins such as protein A from Staphylococcus aureus, human cystic fibrosis factor, and human rheumatoid factors all can bind human IgG1 strongly and thus human IgG1 is a major target for the mediation and control of human autoimmune disease. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-Human IgG1 rabbit monoclonal antibody has been tested in western blot against purified preparations of human IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, and IgG4 and against human spleen and tonsil tissue lysates.
