背景信息	Beta-microseminoprotein, prostate secreted seminal plasma protein, and prostate secretory protein of 94 amino acids (PSP94) are all names for a secreted protein originally found in the seminal fluid and on the surface of sperm. In fact, PSP94 along with PSA (Prostate-specific Antigen) and PAP (Prostate Acid Phosphatase) are the three most abundant proteins in seminal fluid. PSP94 is expressed in prostate, liver, kidney, breast and penis. PSP94 is additionally expressed in pancreas, esophagus, stomach, duodenum, colon, trachea, lung, salivary glands and fallopian tube but to a lower level. As with other prostate-secreted proteins, PSP94 can get into the blood particularly during prostate epithelial tumor formation, and thus PSP94 levels can be an indicator of possible tumor growth. Moreover the differential change in PSP94 expression between hormone-dependent, less aggressive prostate cancers, where PSP94 is high to hormone-independent prostate cancers where PSP94 expression is low or non-existent potentially makes PSP94 a marker that can be used to distinguish between these two types of prostate cancer forms. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-PSP94 rabbit monoclonal antibody has been tested in western blot on human prostate tissue and human prostate cancer cell line lysates and in immunohistochemistry on paraffin embedded human prostate tissue sections.
