背景信息 Claudin-1 (Senescence-associated epithelial membrane protein) is an integral membrane protein. It interacts with Claudin-2, and possibly occludin, to form tight junctions in epithelial and endothelial cells. Tight junctions are intercellular structures, which function as barriers between cells. They play an important role in regulating paracellular transport, and preventing the diffusion and mixing of apical and basolateral lipids. Previous studies suggest that Claudin-1 may play a role in the migration of neural crest cells during embryonic development.
