背景信息	The protein currently named Fumarylacetoacetase or alternatively Beta-diketonase, or Fumarylacetoacetate hydrolase, and encoded by the human gene named FAH, is an enzyme involved in amino acid catabolism. FAH is the last in a series of five enzymes needed to break down the amino acid tyrosine, a protein building block found in many foods. More specifically, FAH converts a tyrosine byproduct called fumarylacetoacetate into smaller molecules that are either excreted by the kidneys or used in reactions that produce energy. FAH also breaks down phenylalanine into acetoacetate and fumarate. FAH is expressed in most tissues but highest expression is in the liver and kidney. The disease tyrosinemia is associated with defective FAH and toxic tyrosine intermediates (fumarylacetoacetate). Defects in FAH are associated with liver disease and liver cancer. EMD-Millipore Anti-FAH rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blots on mouse liver extracts.
