背景信息	The protein named Myosin-binding protein C, cardiac-type (Cardiac MyBP-C), or alternatively, C-protein, cardiac muscle isoform and encoded by the human gene MYBPC3 is myosin associated protein located in the cross-bridge regions of vertebrate striated muscle A bands. In vitro, MYBPC3 binds MHC, F-actin and native thin filaments, and MYBPC3 has activity modulating the activity of myosin ATPase so MYBPC3 may play a role in mediating muscle cell contraction. The cardiac isoform is expressed exclusively in the heart and defects in MYBPC3 gene are the cause for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy a condition that can lead to heart failure in affected individuals, and surprisingly, defective MYBPC3 appears to account for up to 30-40% of the diagnosed cases of heart failure. MYBPC3 also appears to play an important node for cell signaling within the heart, and thus MYBPC3 appears to have both key structural and singling roles whose modifications are known to influence and be a significant cause of human cardiac disease.
