背景信息 The protein named SSBP1, also known as Mt-SSB/MtSSB or PWP1-interacting protein 17, and encoded by the gene SSBP1/SSBP, preferentially binds ss-DNA and is likely involved in mitochondrial DNA replication and stabilization. SSBP1 is one of three critical proteins important in mitochondrial biogenesis as well. Additionally, SSBP1 is a subunit of a large multi-protein complex that binds ss-DNA and promotes the maintenance of genome stability in general in mammalian cells. SSBP1 is localized to the mitochondria and is expressed in all cells.
