背景信息	The protein named DNA-directed RNA polymerases I and III subunit RPAC1 or DNA-directed RNA polymerase I subunit C, or RNA polymerases I and III subunit AC1, or AC40, DNA-directed RNA polymerases I and III 40 kDa polypeptide (RPA40P), RPA39 or RPC40, and encoded by the human gene named POLR1C or POLR1E is a component of the RNA polymerase I (Pol I) and RNA polymerase III (Pol III) complexes. Pol I and Pol III catalyze the transcription of DNA into RNA. Pol I complex is made up of 13 proteins. Pol III is made up of 17 subunits proteins. RPAC1 acts as a clamp element that moves to open and close the cleft in the Pol I or Pol III complexes during synthesis. RPAC1 localizes to the nucleus. Defects in POLR1C lead to Treacher Collins syndrome a condition that affects the development of bones and other tissues of the face. These mutations appear to alter the structure and function of the POLR1C protein, which reduces the amount of functional RNA polymerase I and RNA polymerase III in cells which may trigger premature cell death during development and lead to facial abnormalities. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-POLR1C rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blot on HEK293 cell lysates and in paraffin embedded immunohistochemistry on human ovary tissue sections.
