背景信息	The protein named Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 1 or NF-E2-related factor 1/NFE2-related factor 1 or alternatively named Locus control region-factor 1, Nuclear factor, erythroid derived 2, like 1, Transcription factor 11(TCF-11), Transcription factor HBZ17, or Transcription factor LCR-F1 and encoded by the human gene named NFE2L1/HBZ17/NRF1/TCF11 is an important transcriptional activating factor which helps regulate the cell’s response to oxidative stress by regulating the expression of the ubiquitin proteasome system as well as regulating the expression of other cellular responses during development such as blood and bone cell development. Under normal, non-stressed conditions, NFE2L1 resides in the endoplasmic reticulum and normally is degraded via the ubiquitin system. Oxidative stress and proteasome inhibition induces NFE2L1 to be targeted to the nucleus and bound to oxidative response elements located on the ubiquitin proteasome genes, enhancing their expression. NFE2L1 is also responsible for erythropoiesis development in mice and double knockout mice die before birth because of defective erythroid cells. Finally, there is some confusion in the literature surround NFE2L1 because of one of its earlier names, NRF1, and the current gene that holds that symbol, which is for nuclear respiratory factor 1, unfortunately also named NRF1 in the literature. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-NFE2L1 rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blots on mouse skeletal muscle tissue extracts.
