背景信息	Ribonucleoside-diphosphate reductase large subunit, or alternatively Ribonucleoside-diphosphate reductase subunit M1, or just Ribonucleotide reductase large subunit and encoded by the human gene named RRM1/RR1 is part of the critical enzyme that catalyzes the biosynthesis of deoxyribonucleotides from the corresponding ribonucleotides. Cytoplasmically localized and ubiquitously expressed, the enzyme is under complex and tight regulation by its substrates. RRM1 has both activation and specificity binding sites and requires ATP to operate. The binding of the ribonucleotide at the specificity site determines the specificity of the activity. RRM1 operates to create all of the four deoxynucleoside triphosphates. RRM1’s activity level is tied to cell growth and proliferation rates and is up regulated in most cancerous tumors and its expression is used as a biomarker. Moreover much cancer treatment research is focused on RRM1 as overexpression in cancers is seen as a survival mechanism in many cancers as it helps to overcome the impact of anti-cancer drugs and nucleotide analog based therapies. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-RRM1 rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blot on HeLa cell extracts, immunofluorescence in HeLa cells, and in paraffin embedded immunohistochemistry on human ovarian tumor tissue sections.
