背景信息	The protein SAMHD1 or alternatively named SAM domain and HD domain containing protein 1, Dendritic cell derived IFNG induced protein (DCIP), Monocyte protein 5 (MOP-5) and encoded by the human gene named SAMHD1/MOP5 is a nuclear protein expressed in many tissues including heart, skeletal muscle, spleen, liver, small intestine, placenta, lung and peripheral blood leukocytes/ monocytes. SAMHD1 is induced by interferon gamma and appears to be involved in the innate immune response to viral infection. SAMHD1 is a cellular enzyme that depletes intracellular deoxynucleoside triphosphates (dNTPs) and inhibits the ability of retroviruses, notably HIV-1, to infect myeloid cells. Although SAMHD1 is expressed in both cycling and noncycling cells, the antiviral activity of SAMHD1 is limited to noncycling cells. SAMHD1 restricts HIV-1 replication in myeloid and quiescent CD4+ T cells and its activity is governed via phosphorylation by the Cyclin A2/CDK1 complex. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-SAMHD1 rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blot on HepG2 cell lysate and in paraffin embedded immunohistochemistry on human lung cancer tissue sections.
