背景信息	The protein named Fetuin-B or alternatively 16G2, Gugu, or Fetuin-like protein IRL685 is a secreted protein made in the liver and secreted into the blood. FETUB is thought to have multiple functions similar to its relative Fetuin-A. An important function of FETUB is the inhibition of ovastacin, a cortical granula protease that “hardens” the zona pellucid (a glycoprotein matrix surrounding mammalian oocytes) and prevents fertilization. FETUB limits the activity of this protease sufficiently to allow fertilization. FETUB is expressed in liver tissue, tongue and placenta tissues. FETUB is part of the cystatin family of proteases and may have tumor suppressor activity. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-FETUB rabbit polyclonal Antibody has been tested in western blots on human blood extracts and on paraffin embedded human liver tissue samples.
