背景信息	The protein named Deubiquitinating protein VCIP135 or alternatively Valosin-containing protein p97/p47 complex-interacting protein 1, Valosin-containing protein p97/p47 complex-interacting protein p135, or VCP/p47 complex-interacting 135-kDa protein, and encoded by the human gene named VCPIP1/KIAA1850/VCIP135 is an endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi associated protein that acts as a deubiquitinating enzyme. VCPIP1 plays an important role in the VCP-mediated reassembly of Golgi stacks after mitosis. VCP is a valosin containing structural protein that is important in vesicle transport and various other cellular events surrounding mitosis. VCPIP1 deubiquitination is necessary for proper reassembly and function of the Golgi. VCPIP1 also interacts with the ATPase NSF, and ATPase cofactor NSFL1C, the receptor Syntaxin-5, and VCPIP1 is essential for NSF/NSFL1C mediated membrane fusion and when VCPIP1 is bound to the NSF/NSFL1C/Syntaxin 5 complex it is disassociated from NSF mediated ATP hydrolysis of ubiquitinated proteins. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-VCPIP1 rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blots in MCF7 cell extracts on in paraffin embedded immunohistochemistry on human breast cancer tissue sections.
