背景信息 Cell death-inducing DFFA-like effector protein C (CIDEC), also known as Fat-specific protein FSP27 homolog (FSP27) is a protein expressed primarily in adipose tissue that plays a role in lipid storage and lipid droplet function and metabolism. CIDEC/FSP27 is also thought to play a role in adipocyte apoptosis as over expression in preadipocytes induces apoptosis, however, in mature adipocytes CIDEC/FSP27 expression provides resistance to apoptotic stimuli. CIDE/FSP27 is also a transcription factor in white adipose tissue, where the protein acts as a coactivator with CEBPB protein to control the expression of many genes including SOCS1, SOCS3, TGFB1, TGFBR1, ID2 and XDH. CIDEC/FSP27 is localized both in the nucleus and cytoplasmic endoplasmic reticulum as well as in lipid droplets. CIDEC/FSP27 expression can also be found in other tissues other than adipose tissue including heart, brain, kidney and liver.
