    背景信息 Dynamin-like protein 1 (DNM1L), also known as Dynamin related protein 1 (Drp1), mediates outer mitochondrial membrane fission in mammilian cells. Like other members of the Dynamin superfamily of GTPases, DNM1L contains a N-terminal tripartate GTP-binding domain and exists as a T-shaped dimer with a head, leg, and stalk. The addition of GTP induces head and stalk rearrangement resulting in membrane constriction. DNM1L has been shown to affect mitochondrial morphology and places a significant role in mitochondrial and peroxisomal fission in mammilian cells. During apoptosis, DNM1L translocates from the cytosol to mitochondria and localizes to potential organelle division sites. Studies show DNM1L inhibition averts cell death, reinforcing to the critical role that mitochondrial fission plays in apoptosis.
