背景信息 PP2A is a type 2 protein Ser/Thr phosphatase characterized by high activity against the α subunit of Phosphorylase Kinase and low sensitivity to Inhibitor-2. PP2A is distinguishable from PP2B/Calcineurin and PP2C by its partial activity in the absence of divalent cations, and its high sensitivity to Okadaic Acid. It is also thought to be the principal downmodulator of Ser/Thr kinase cascades. PP2A is a heterotrimer containing a structural subunit (A), a regulatory subunit (B), and a catalytic subunit (C). There are multiple isotypes (encoded by distinct genes) of the B subunit, grouped into three families: B/PR55, B'/PR61, and B''/PR72 . Proteins that associate with the core dimer include three families of regulatory subunits B (the R2/B/PR55/B55, R3/B''/PR72/PR130/PR59 and R5/B'/B56 families), the 48 kDa variable regulatory subunit, viral proteins, and cell signaling molecules.
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasm. Nucleus. Note=Nuclear in interphase, nuclear during mitosis.
