背景信息	With SmartFlare™ RNA Detection probes, you can detect RNA in LIVE CELLS with ease. With just an overnight incubation of PSENEN; Rat, Cyanine 5 RNA Detection Probe you can detect the presence of PSENEN within your cells. Gamma-secretase subunit PEN-2 (PEN2) is also known as Presenilin enhancer protein 2 (PSENEN) and catalyzes the intramembrane cleavage of integral membrane proteins such as Notch receptors and APP (beta-amyloid precursor protein). PEN2 is an essential component of the gamma-secretase complex and may play an important role in the last step of the maturation process of gamma-secretases, facilitating endoproteolysis of presenilin and gamma-secretase activity. PEN2 is widely expressed, more specifically in leukocytes, lung, liver, placenta, small intestine, skeletal muscle, kidney, spleen thymus, heart and brain. Defects in PEN2 may be the cause of familial acne inversa type 2, a chronic relapsing inflammatory disease of the hair follicles characterized by recurrent draining sinuses, painful skin abscesses, and disfiguring scars. Additionally, PEN2 is suggested to be related to Alzheimer's disease.
