    背景信息 DNA-binding protein SATB2 (SATB2) is also known as Special AT-rich sequence-binding protein 2. SATB2 binds to DNA at nuclear matrix- or scaffold-associated regions. SATB2 is critical for the initiation of the upper-layer neurons (UL1) specific genetic program and the inactivation of deep-layer neurons (DL) and UL2 specific genes, represses Ctip2 and regulates corticocortical connections in the developing cerebral cortex. SATB2 acts as a transcription factor controlling nuclear gene expression by inducing chromatin-loop remodeling. SATB2 is also a docking site for, and recruits chromatin remodeling enzymes, corepressors (HDACs) and coactivators (HATs) directly to promoters and enhancers. SATB2 is highly expressed in adult brain, with moderate to weak expression in fetal brain, adult liver, kidney, spinal cord, amygdala, corpus callosum, caudate nucleus, and hippocampus. Defects and chromosomal aberrations involving SATB2 are found in isolated cleft palate and Toriello-Carey syndrome.
