背景信息 Lecithin retinol acyltransferase (LRAT) is also called Phosphatidylcholine--retinol O-acyltransferase. LRAT transfers the acyl group from the sn-1 position of phosphatidylcholine to all-trans retinol, producing all-trans retinyl esters, which are Vitamin A storage forms. LRAT also is critical in vision, providing all-trans retinyl ester substrates for the isomerohydrolase in the retinal pigment epithelium. LRAT is expressed in hepatic stellate and endothelial cells, and found at high levels in testis and liver as well as retinal pigment epithelium, small intestine, prostate, pancreas and colon.
