背景信息	Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2 A (UBE2A) is also called RAD6 homolog A (HR6A), Ubiquitin carrier protein A, and Ubiquitin-protein ligase A and is a member of the ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme family. UBE2A accepts ubiquitin from the E1 complex and catalyzes its covalent attachment to other proteins. UBE2A is involved in transcription regulation by catalyzing the monoubiquitination of histone H2B at 'Lys-120' to form H2BK120ub1 (a specific tag for epigenetic transcriptional activation, elongation by RNA polymerase II, telomeric silencing, and a prerequisite for H3K4me and H3K79me formation), and is required for UV-damaged DNA repair. In vitro, UBE2A catalyzes 'Lys-11' and 'Lys-48'-linked polyubiquitination. Aberrant UBE2A can cause mental retardation syndromic X-linked Nascimento-type (MRXSN).
