背景信息 Placental alkaline phosphatase 1 (PLAP) is one of four isozyme types found in humans and most mammals. PLAP is a membrane bound, highly glycosylated, allosterically regulated dimeric enzyme that is expressed primarily in the placenta. PLAP is thought to play a role in guiding migratory cells and in the transport of specific molecules over the plasma membrane. PLAP’s expression in the placenta is from the 8th week of gestation increasing continually throughout the pregnancy. PLAP is also expressed in the endocervix and the Fallopian tubes. PLAP is a tumor marker for ovarian, testicular, and germ layer cancers. PLAP levels in the blood can also be used as a possible disease indicator, but only in non-smokers because smoking appears to cause an increase in PLAP levels in the blood in general. Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.
