背景信息	Prostaglandin F2-alpha receptor, PGF receptor, or PGF2-alpha receptor protein all are names for the protein that is the receptor for prostaglandin F2-alpha (PGF2-alpha). This receptor, in animals, initiates luteolysis, the process of the degradation of the corpus luteum at the end of the estrous and menstrual cycles. In humans and primates, however, luteolysis is not caused by prostaglandins, but the receptor is still active in parturition (the action or process of giving birth to offspring) and the PTGFR activity is mediated by a G protein cascade that ultimately changes intracellular Ca++. As expected for a receptor, PTGFR is an integral plasma membrane protein. Outside of parturition and luteolysis, PRGFR appears to also be a negative regulator of apoptosis under certain conditions, and its expression in various cancer cells appears to allow prostaglandins to mediate and potentiate tumor growth and activity. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-PTGFR rabbit monoclonal has been tested in western blot against MCF-7 and T47-D cell lysates.
