背景信息 The protein named Retinoic acid receptor beta (RARB), or also known as RAR-beta or HBV-activated protein, or nuclear receptor subfamily 1 group B member 2, or RAR-epsilon, and encoded by the gene RARB/HAP/NR1B2, is a receptor for retinoic acid. Retinoic acid receptors bind as heterodimers to their target response elements in response to their ligands, all-trans or 9-cis retinoic acid, and regulate gene expression in various biological processes. Retinoic acid receptor beta (RARB) in the absence or presence of hormone ligand, acts mainly as an activator of gene expression due to weak binding to corepressors. Additionally, Retinoic acid receptor beta (RARB) in concert with RARG is required for skeletal growth, matrix homeostasis and growth plate function and RARB is composed of three domains: a modulating N-terminal domain, a DNA-binding domain and a C-terminal ligand-binding domain. Retinoic acid receptor beta (RARB) is localized mostly to nuclear regions with some isoforms also being found in the cytoplasm bound to carrier proteins.
