背景信息 Interleukin-23 (IL-23) is a heterodimer, the combination of IL-23-specific subunit p19 and IL-12 subunit p40 comprise the biologically active protein. Like IL-12, IL-23 has been shown to activate the transcription factor STAT4 (signal transducer and activator of transcription-4). Unlike IL-12, IL-23 also seems to play a role in the signaling of memory T cells. IL-23, in conjunction with IL-17, is important in controlling the bacterial growth and inflammation response in an organism with tuberculosis.
