背景信息	RNA-binding motif, single-stranded-interacting protein 1 (RBMS1 or MSSP-1) is a single-stranded DNA binding protein that is characterized by the presence of two sets of ribonucleoprotein consensus sequence (RNP-CS) that contain conserved motifs, RNP1 and RNP2, originally described in RNA binding proteins, and required for DNA binding. At the developmental stage, RBMS1 (MSSP-1) is expressed at its highest levels during the G1 to S transition of the cell cycle and is most commonly found in placenta, lung and heart tissue. RBMS1 (MSSP-1) has been implicated in such diverse functions as DNA replication, gene transcription, cell cycle progression and apoptosis.
