背景信息	Alpha-soluble NSF attachment protein, or alternatively SNAP-alpha, alpha-SNAP, N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor, or attachment protein alpha is encoded by the gene named NAPA or SNAPA is a protein required for vesicular transport between the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi apparatus. Alpha-SNAP (NAPA) belongs to the SNAP family of proteins. Soluble NSF-attachment proteins (SNAPs) are highly conserved proteins that participate in intracellular membrane fusion and vesicular trafficking. In mammals, there are three different isoforms of SNAPs, alpha-, beta- and gamma-SNAP. alpha- and gamma-SNAP are ubiquitously expressed, whereas beta-SNAP is the brain-specific isoform. NSF is an ATPase involved in membrane fusion, and NAPA localizes to internal membranes and is found ubiquitously in eukaryotic cytoplasm. It is the central component of the cellular machinery that transfers membrane vesicles from one membrane compartment to another. SNAPs recruit NSF to the membrane after being bound to specific membrane receptors to form a hetero-oligomeric SNARE complex that is disrupted upon ATP hydrolysis by NSF, which is a prerequisite of membrane fusion. Deletion of NAPA is lethal and mutations in NAPA are associated with a number of specific pathological conditions, several neurological disorders, Type 2 diabetes, and aggressive neuroendocrine tumors. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-NAPA has been tested in western blot on mouse brain lysates.
