背景信息	The protein Septin-7 or alternatively named CDC10 and encoded by the human gene named SEPT7 or CDC10 is a filament-forming cytoskeletal GTPase. SEPT7 is a member of the septin family, which is a highly conserved subfamily of GTPases implicated in exocytosis, apoptosis, synaptogenesis, neurodegeneration, and tumorigenesis. SEPT7 is required for normal organization of the actin cytoskeleton and required for normal progress through mitosis, meiosis, and cytokinesis. SEPT7 is also required for normal association of centromere protein E (CENPE) with the kinetochore at cytokinesis. CENPE is one of the motors that drive chromosomal movement and SEPT7 provides the molecular energy via the hydrolysis of GTP. Finally SEPT7 also operates in ciliogenesis and collective cell movements. Widely expressed by a variety of cells, SEPT7 is localized to the cytoplasm and to the typical structures seen during cytokinesis as well; SEPT7 is also found in cilium and axoneme and associated with other cytoskeletal elements and spindle apparatus. Anti-SEPT7 rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blot on Jurkat cell extracts and in paraffin embedded immunohistochemistry on human lung cancer tissue sections.
