背景信息	Triosephosphate isomerase (TIM) or Triose-phosphate isomerase and encoded by the gene named TPI1/TPI is an isomerase that is important in glycolysis. It converts Dihydroxiacetone phosphate (glycerone phosphate) to D-glyeraldehyde 3-phosphate which then can be worked on by glyceraldehyde phosphate dehydrogenase to 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate and in the process make an NADH2. TPI1 conversion captures all of the isoforms arriving from the third step in glycolysis ensuring an efficient utilization of the available hexoses. Expressed by all cells and localized to the cytoplasm deficiencies are associated with anemias and severe neurological disorders including Alzheimer’s disease. Recent research using animal models that mimic early cognitive impairments seen in Alzheimer’s disease suggested that lowered TPI1 activity as the animals aged effected their ability to learn and remember, and interestingly, acupuncture treatments helped to restore TPI1 activity and recover from losses in memory. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-TPI1 rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blot on HepG2 cell lysates and in immunoprecipitation on HEK293 cell lysates.
