背景信息 Flot2, also known as Flotillin-2, or Epidermal surface antigen (ESA), or Membrane component chromosome 17 surface marker 1 (M17S1), and encoded by the gene FLOT2/ESA1/M17S1, is a scaffold protein located within caveolar membranes that helps in the formation of the caveolae or caveolae-like vesicles. Flot2 forms hetero-oligomeric complexes of flotillin-1 and flotillin-2 and caveolin-1 and caveolin-2. Additionally, Flot2 is involved in epidermal cell adhesion, important in cancer as well as in development as well. Flot2 is expressed in many tissues and cell types from developing neurons to cancerous tumor tissues.
