背景信息 The protein called Fe65 or more correctly Amyloid beta A4 precursor protein-binding family B member 1 is an adapter protein that binds the intracellular domain of APP when it is cleaved and acts a transcriptional regulator. FE65 can act as a coactivator or corepressor of gene activation depending upon the context, and FE65 plays a role in apoptosis, axon guidance, axonogenesis, cell cycle, neuron migration and development. FE65 also plays a central role in cellular response to DNA damage and also interacts with various histones including histone H2AX and Histone H4 and the histone modifying protein HDAC1. FE65 is localized in the cytoplasm and nucleus as well as in axonal growth cones. In healthy cells it is primarily found in the cytoplasm but translocates to the nucleus when DNA damage occurs.
