背景信息	The gene ADAR, also named Double-stranded RNA-specific adenosine deaminase (DRADA) or 136 kDa double-stranded RNA-binding protein (p136), Interferon-inducible protein 4 (IFI-4), or K88DSRBP and encoded by the genes ADAR1, DSRAD, G1P1, IFI4 is an enzyme involved in RNA editing and catalyzes the deamination of adenosine to inosine in ds(RNA). Such editing influences RNA expression in numerous ways from translation , to splicing, to genetic stability and can even be used in viral defense and RNA replication mechanisms. ADAR cellular RNA substrates include bladder cancer-associated protein (BLCAP), neurotransmitter receptors for glutamate (GRIA2) and serotonin (HTR2C) and GABA receptor (GABRA3). Site-specific RNA editing of transcripts encoding these proteins results in amino acid substitutions which consequently alters their functional activities. ADAR is found localized in the nucleus and cytoplasm and widely expressed particularly in the brain and lung. Anti-ADAR rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in westerns and immunoprecipitation on Y79 cell extracts and in paraffin embedded immunohistochemistry on human glioma tissue sections and in fluorescent immunocytochemistry on HepG2 cells in culture.
