    背景信息 The protein name Histone demethylase UTY or alternatively Ubiquitously-transcribed TPR protein on the Y chromosome, or Ubiquitously-transcribed Y chromosome tetratricopeptide repeat protein and encoded by the human gene named UTY is a histone demethylase that is highly homologous to UTX which is a histone demethylase specific for H3K27m3/me2. UTY appears to be the homologous Y chromosome member of the histone H3 lysine 27 family. UTX can demethylate H3K27; however, in vitro assays suggest that human UTY has lost enzymatic activity due to sequence divergence. But in knockout studies, despite divergence of UTX and UTY in catalyzing H3K27 demethylation, they maintain functional redundancy during embryonic development because UTX double mutants are embryonic lethal demonstrating defects in neural tube, yolk scan and cardiac development but hemizygous males that are UTX-/UTY+ are viable though runted and with only a 25% survival rate. UTY is localized to the nucleus and ubiquitously expressed in cells derived from male embryos.
