背景信息	EGR-2 is a DNA binding transcription factor the helps control the expression of many genes important in brain development, brain segmentation, and facial nerve structural organization as well as other proteins important in the gonadotropin response, fat cell differentiation, apoptosis, ossification and many other systems. EGR-2 is one of handful of transcriptions factors that is regulated via protein sumoylation as well. Mutations in EGR-2 are linked to a number of syndromes affecting the nervous system including Congenital hypomyelinating Neuropathy, Charcot-Marie Tooth disease, and Dejerine Sotlas Syndrome.
