背景信息 PEMT (phosphatidylethanolamine N-methyltransferase) is an an important enzyme for the synthesis of membrane phospholipids. PEMT converts phosphatidylethanolamine to phosphatidyl-choline by sequential methylation in the liver. The protein localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria-associated membranes. The gene is within the Smith-Magenis syndrome region on chromosome 17. HeLa, A431, and NIH/3T3 (previous page) cells incubated with anti-PEMT (C-terminus) stained positively on nuclei and endoplasmic reticulum (ER).

The antibody easily detected PEMT in Jurkat and L6 lysates by Western blotting, but expression was weak or not detected in A431, HeLa, HEK293, PC12, or NIH/3T3 cell lysates using very dilute antibody (0.25 μg/mL, data not shown).
