背景信息	UCHL3, or Ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase isozyme L3 (UCH-L3) or Ubiquitin thioesterase L3 and encoded by the human gene UCHL3 is a critical member of the ubiquitin proteasome degradation system. The UCH-family of enzymes generates free monomeric ubiquitin from precursor multi-ubiquitin chains and, in some instances, may rescue ubiquitinated proteins from degradation as well. UCHL3 is one important member of the UCH-family, and UCHL3 is highly expressed in heart, skeletal muscle and testis but also found in other tissues such as brain and kidney. By deubiquitinating various protein targets, UCHL3 plays critical roles in regulating various cellular processes such as apical membrane recycling, fostering insulin-signaling, and insulin induced adipogenesis. UCHL3 is critical for cellular stress response, and UCHL3 has developmental roles in tissues too such as in the development and maturation of retina, skeletal muscle and oocytes, and UCHL3 is being studied as a player in working memory and neurological health because UCHL3 can hydrolyze UBB+1, a mutated from of ubiquitin that is associated with neurodegenerative disorders, into another even more potent neurotoxin, UB(G76Y). EMD-Millipore’s Anti-UCHL3 rabbit monoclonal antibody has been tested in western blots on 293T, SH-SY5Y, Jurkat, and K562 cell lysates and in paraffin embedded immunohistochemistry on normal human testis tissue sections.
