背景信息	Piwi-like protein 1 (piwil1) is a member of the argonaute family containing PAZ and Piwi motifs. Piwi-like protein 1 (piwil1) plays an important role during spermatogenesis via the piRNA metabolic process, which mediates the repression of transposable elements during meiosis. Piwi-like protein 1 (piwil1) also plays a role as an an intrinsic regulator of the self-renewal capacity of germline.
