背景信息 Beclin1, also known as Coiled-coil myosin-like BCL2-interacting protein or Protein GT197, encoded by the gene BECN1 or GT197, plays a central role in autophagy and cytokinesis. Beclin1 may also play a role in anti-viral host defense as part of the innate immune response. Additionally, Beclin1 interacts with GOPC and GRID2 as well as with AMBRA1. Beclin1 forms a complex with PIK3C3 and PIK3R4 and either UVRAG and KIAA0226/Rubicon, or with ATG14. UVRAG and ATG14 form mutually exclusive complexes through direct competition for Beclin1-binding. The complex containing ATG14 up-regulates autophagy, while the one containing Rubicon down-regulates autophagy. Beclin1 interacts with BCL2 and BCL2L1 as well as VMP1 and DAPK1. Beclin1 is localized to the Golgi apparatus and the trans-Golgi network membrane; it is a peripheral membrane protein in the Golgi.
