背景信息 Plexin-D1 is a member of the plexin family of proteins and is a 1925 amino acid long protein that is encoded by the PLXND1 gene. It is active during embryogenesis and is gradually lost during development. It is thought tp play a part in Mobius syndrome 2, a genetic defect that paralyses the facial nerves. Plexin-D1 is most commonly expressed in the central nervous system and vascular endothelium. Inactivation of Plexin-D1 is also thought to be the cause of a certain type of congenital heart disease. In a mouse model, Plexin-D1 expression is recovered during tumor angiogenesis of brain metastasis and may be a clinically relevant marker.
