The receptor of this cytokine is a heterotrimeric protein complex whose gamma chain is also shared by interleukin 4 (IL-4) and interleukin 7 (IL-7). Additionally, IL-2 has been found to stimulate the growth and differentiation of B cells, NK cells, LAK cells, monocytes, and oligodendrocytes.
