背景信息	Myosin regulatory light chain 12B (MYL12B, MLC-2A), or myosin regulatory light chain 2-B, smooth muscle isoform, Myosin regulatory light chain 20kDa (MLC20), Myosin regulatory light chain MRLC2 , and SHUJUN-1 is a protein encoded by the human gene named MYL12B, or MRLC2, or MYLC2B and is the regulatory subunit of Myosin II protein. Myosin II (also known as conventional myosin) is the myosin type responsible for producing muscle contraction in muscle cells and movement in non-muscle cells. Myosin II contains two heavy chains and 4 light chains, MYL12B is one of the light chains and functions as the regulatory subunit. Phosphorylation of MYL12B increases the actin activated myosin ATPase activity and thereby regulates the contractile activity. Myosin II expressed in non-muscle tissues plays a central role in cell adhesion, migration and division, and MYL12B serves as the force generating and driving engine for cell motility in non-muscle cells as well. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-MYL12B rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blot on mouse muscle tissue lysates and in paraffin embedded immunohistochemistry on human colon cancer tissue sections.
