背景信息	The protein named alpha-ETF and encoded by the human gene ETFA is a key player in mitochondrial fatty acid beta oxidation. ETFA facilitates the electron transfer of electrons from several different dehydrogenases including acyl-CoA dehydrogenases, glutaryl-CoA and sarcosine dehydrogenase to the ETF-ubiquinone oxidoreductase in the mitochondria. ETFA is located in the mitochondrial matrix and is ubiquitously expressed in cells, although the expression levels can vary depending upon the tissue. ETFA expression can also vary depending upon metabolic condition and various treatments.Dexamethasone for instance suppresses ETFA expression in the liver, but starvation induces expression of ETFA as one might expect. Deficiencies in ETFA function lead to Glutaric aciduria type 2A an inherited disorder where large amounts of chemical acids are excreted in the urine. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-ETFA rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blot on mouse small intestine tissue extracts and in paraffin embedded immunohistochemistry on human breast cancer tissue sections and in immunofluorescence on MCF7 cells in culture.
