背景信息 The protein named Cysteine desulfurase, mitochondrial and encoded by the human gene named NFS1/NIFS is an important aminotransferase enzyme in both cysteine catabolism and alanine biosynthesis as well as in the maintenance of iron-sulfur protein clusters and molybdenum cofactor molecule. NFS1 catalyzes the removal of elemental sulfur from cysteine to produce alanine. NFS1 also supplies the inorganic sulfur for iron-sulfur proteins and provides the sulfur for the molybdenum cofactor. Molybdenum is a micronutrient essential for protein synthesis, metabolism and growth in humans. For NFS1 there are alternative splicing forms, a cytoplasmic/nuclear form, and a mitochondrial form. For iron sulfur protein synthesis NFS1 must also interact with the protein frataxin (FXN); FXN stabilizes the quaternary complex and controls iron entry to the complex through activation of cysteine desulfurization via NFS1. Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.
