背景信息	The protein Beta glucuronidase or Beta-G1 and encoded by the human gene GUSB is lysosomal protein involved in the degradation of keratan, heparan, and chondroitin sulfates (including other glycosaminoglycans). Glycosaminoglycans are composed of sugar molecules that are linked together to form a long string. To break down these large molecules, individual sugars are removed one at a time from one end of the molecule. GUSB enzyme removes a sugar called glucuronic acid when it is at the end of the glycosaminoglycan chain. Defects in GUSB lead to various lysosomal storage diseases and a buildup of dermatan, heparan, and chondroitin sulfates within cells that disrupt normal cell function. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-GUSB rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blot on mouse liver tissue and in paraffin embedded human colon cancer tissue sections.
