背景信息	The protein named Muellerian-inhibiting factor or alternatively Anti-Muellerian hormone (AMH) or Muellerian inhibiting substance (MIS), and encoded by the human gene named AMH or MIF, is a hormone like glycoprotein. AMH is produced by the Sertoli cells of the testis, and AMH causes regression of the Muellerian duct. AMH is also able to inhibit the growth of tumors derived from tissues of Muellerian duct origin. The Müllerian ducts (or paramesonephric ducts) are paired ducts of the embryo that run down the lateral sides of the urogenital ridge and terminate at the Müllerian eminence in the primitive urogenital sinus. In the female, they will develop to form the Fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, and the upper two-thirds of the vagina. In the male, they are lost because of the action of AMH. AMH is expressed in the developing and adult testis and in the ovary in females where it functions in oocyte maintenance. Interestingly recent research has shown promise that levels of AMH in the blood can be used as a potential guide for the health of the ovarian reserve in women over 40, and AMH appears critical for IVF treatment in women over 40. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-AMH rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blot on mouse ovary tissue and in paraffin embedded immunohistochemistry on human ovary tumor tissue sections.
